What is Regenerative Medicine?

Research shows that regenerative medicine may help your body heal itself and restore normal functioning by replacing or regenerating your damaged cells.  Your body normally replaces cells on its own, but when an injury or illness damages your cells, they might lose their ability to regenerate properly.   We use Mesenchymal stem cell injections, which may accelerate healing and reduce inflammation.

Mesenchymal cells are naturally occurring cells in the body that have the unique ability to develop into different cells.  For example, a single cell might become a bone, cartilage, or muscle cell.  The cells are derived from the umbilical cord blood, after childbirth, which is typically just thrown away, but with this innovative form of regenerative medicine, these beneficial cells are carefully collected and safely stored until ready for use.

The team at Advanced Medical & Wellness Centers use allogenic Mesenchymal stem cells from Predictive Biotech.  Allogenic means the stem cells come from donor tissue instead of from your own tissues.  Predictive Biotech products undergo rigorous screening and come from an FDA-registered lab to ensure the highest quality.

What Can Regenerative Medicine Help With?

Regenerative medicine may help your body rebuild healthy tissue in an area that’s been affected by injury or disease, as well as a wide range of bone and soft tissue problems, including arthritis.  The injections are designed to relieve pain and improve function in many joints, including the knees, shoulders, hips, ankles, and wrists. The team at Advanced Medical & Wellness Centers might recommend regenerative medicine if you have pain that persists despite treatments like chiropractic care, physical therapy or trigger point injections.

What Should I Expect From a Regenerative Medicine Treatment?

During your initial consultation, you will be asked to describe your pain and symptoms before reviewing your medical history and performing a physical exam.  These injections are no more painful than any other type of injection. If you’re particularly sensitive, we may apply a topical numbing cream first. You might feel a stinging sensation that lasts for a few seconds.

Because regenerative medicine involves rebuilding tissues, everyone's healing process may be different.  For some it might take a few weeks, while others it may take a few months for you to notice improvement.  New cells continue to replace damaged bone and soft tissue cells over time, essentially regenerating your ligaments, muscles, and joints to diminish or alleviate pain, increase function, and restore your mobility.
